I'm touched. - The Paranoid Android
...musings of a mechanically depressed robot...
I'm touched.
Sad boy that I am, I've spent the entire afternoon reading one of the last news posts. I am amazed at how varied peoples attitudes are. I'm also amazed at the depths and heights of the human psyche. The post was about a couple of the web servers dying. In a drastic measure free users where stopped from updating their journals and commenting in other free journals.

I say it was drastic, but don't think for a minute I don't think it was necessary. I want to be clear on that point.

There are 775 comments on the post. The majority of the early root comments (those that are a direct reply to the post) where from free users either whining because they couldn't post, asking when LJ would be back, or being outright abusive that LJ is always picking on the free users.

Now this is not unusual! Nearly all posts of this nature end up with comments like that.
The replies to these comments were the usual mix of "hear hear" and "why don't you demand a refund" type. There were a couple of exceptions. A few free users disgusted at the real freeloaders had commented as such. This isn't too unusual either.

But the bit that got me was this: Some LJ Fairies bought the patient non complaining free users some paid time! There must have been a couple dozen accounts bought by strangers for strangers.

As I say - a post that shows the highs and lows of the human psyche.

Current Mood: surprised surprised

yea... that was pretty amusing... some of it. Some of it down right offended me, as a free user. I'm of the mind that, damnit this is free, so quite honestly, if you're not paying you shouldn't get any special rights. But enough of that.

I want to get my paid account back... I think I'm gonna after Christmas though... oi.

Hey, guess what? I FINALLY started reading "The Ultimate Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Galaxy". Hehe. It was actually a huge hard cover book that had all the novels in it : The Hitchhikers guide..., The Restaurant at the end of the Universe, Life, the Universe and Everything, So Long and thanks for all the fish and Mostly Harmless. Along with a "Bonus Story" : Young Zaphod plays it safe.
All in one book.
AND it was on sale!

I grabbed it at once.
And it instantly made me think of you. Hehehe. I saw your name on my buddy list today when I was cleanign it and I thought of ya.
You should be proud.
I love this book!
