I like the feel of cotton... - The Paranoid Android

I like the feel of cotton...
I recently complained that I couldn't find a self service laundrette in my neck of the woods... and it turns out there is one quite close, but they are obviously not keen on customers because they don't appear in the yellow pages or google. By the time I'd been told about it I had already worked out a couple of alternatives...

... you see I needed to wash my duvet. Back in the day I had two duvets, one for the summer and one for the winter... and leaving one at the cleaners for a week was not a problem. I'm not entirely sure how, but I found myself with just the one duvet... and a week at the cleaners is no longer an option!

There were two options open to me. The first would be to wash and dry the duvet myself over the space of a day... the second was to purchase a new duvet (so I had two again). I considered purchasing a new washing machine that could cope with a king sized duvet. As much as I love gadgets, I can't really afford the £800-£900 quid - even if it does come in black! So I purchased a new duvet... or should I say two new duvets (a 4.5 tog for the summer, a 9 tog for the autumn, which button together to make a 13.5 tog for the winter months. They are made from 100% Hungarian goose down... which is supposed to be quite good for keeping you toasty on a cold night. I went for the super king size because, lets be honest, you can never have too much duvet.

Having got a new duvet(s) which was much bigger than my current one, I had to get a new duvet cover. Searching for black duvet covers gives you some mixed results. I'm not really that far into my mid life crisis that I wanted a satin duvet cover set, and the quality looked a little suspect. Searching for plain black is hard in google... a lot of the hits are for black and something... somethings including pink and "floral!"

I did eventually find a site and snagged myself a plain black duvet cover made of 100% Egyptian cotton... and a set of sheets to match. Sleep has never been so sweet. The down (no pun intended) side to all this is an even greater reluctance to leave my bed every morning!

Mmmm, black. I like your style! I revamped my bed last year and painted it black, plus I have a black duvet:)

I'm not sure when/how it started, but for as long as I can remember I have worn black.

People then assumed that because I wore black then I would appreciate other things in black... gadgets and the like.

I became a little brainwashed I guess and now for preference I'll try and get something in black if it is at all possible. I have even been known to pay a little more for the privilege!

Maybe another part of it is me rebelling against my parents because they would never let me paint my bedroom walls black when I was a kid! :)

Ooooo, I too watched to pain my room black when I was young. The black clothes followed soon after. Now I try to stay away from black as my man is deathly tired of the black clothing. But it looks so damn good:)

Don't you have any friends with large washing machines (and tumble driers) you could borrow for an hour?
