I have been mainly...
The cutting off access to LJ from work has put a serious dent in my postings. I just can't seem to find the time to make updates from home. I am trying the "trusty" post via email option which can, at times, play havoc with the formatting. As there is no way for me to check what this looks like until I get home I ask for your understanding if this post is in any way an eyesore!

I have recently returned from visiting "the missus" and the outlaws. I got to meet the delightful Isobel and spend some quality time doing nothing. It was just what the doctor ordered.

Whilst there I helped Misty celebrate moving into her new home (which is beautiful), celebrated my birthday, and met some political peeps who rub shoulders with the rich and famous. Floyd is obviously a very happening town!

It was good to see Pam, Dillard, Rachael, Wes, Ernie, Hope, Sue, Lisa, Chris, and all the other peeps… and I hope to return again soon.

The DIYing continues at a steady (slow is steady!) pace. All the shelves in the box room are complete. The TV stand just needs to be sanded and stained/lacquered. My desk needs to be cleared, sanded, stained and lacquered! The oven Misty and I bought about 5 years ago has finally been installed. I have yet to use it - but it looks damn cool. The garage has a new door, painted walls, and is generally free from junk!

I want to get a new phone as the battery in mine is going… and the phone turns itself off during the night. My contract ended at the beginning of the month so I can get an upgrade. I toyed with the idea of getting an iPhone… but I am really going off Apple stuff. I toyed with the idea of getting an Android phone… but the best offering out there appears to be the HTC "Hero" which has glowing reviews which all end "for an android phone." It appears the processor is a couple years old and it lacks enough RAM to seriously take on the iPhone and Pre. What a shame.

I think I have my mind set on the Nokia N97 mini. I like Nokia - they have served me well. I think I have had a Nokia handset for all but two years I have owned a mobile phone. The Motorola with "windows mobile" was crap and would crash with a little blue screen of death (lbsod?) during my calls… and an LG phone that refused to sync to my outlook contacts.

The problem these days is getting a phone that does what you want it to… like make calls! It's all about how many MP3's you can store on them or how many mega pixels the camera is. I don't care how many mega pixels you say you have, the lenses on a mobile phone are not going to be able to compete with the lens on my compact camera… and the flash on most phones is a joke!

The media continues to irk me. I have come to think of them as the new religion. A method to keep people thinking and saying what you want them to. I feel at times as if I am living in a second rate sci-fi horror film where the population is blindly following the press and only a few people can see the danger.

This post has been a little random. I blame the cold I have been suffering from these past few days.

Well, the only thing you might want to do is make sure you take the auto-sig off your email as all your professional data is hanging out there. I'd remove post-haste if I were you.
