Saturday was interesting... for a couple of reasons.

Firstly, my boiler sprung a leak last week... so I had to empty the bowl I placed under it roughly every nine hours or risk the spare bedroom migrating into the kitchen below. The engineer/plumber guy was supposed to fix it during the week... but didn't have the parts (as usual) so I agreed he could come back on Saturday morning.

Morning slots are between 08:00 and 12:00. I wasn't relishing a 08:00 start so I asked him if he had a rough idea of when he would arrive... he was nice enough to let me know that there was a job before mine, so it would probably be about 10:00 ish before he'd arrive at my house. This pleased me greatly.

I was not pleased at all when the front door bell went at 07:55 Saturday morning. I was not up... and not really awake. I stumbled down the stairs in my gown grumbling about engineers who come too early... but when I open the front door it's not an engineer but the post office with a big box I have to sign for.

The box contained a large bunch of purple tulips. There is only one person who has sent me flowers before - and I suspect she sent these, and for that I thank her. It really brightened up my morning!

About 10:00 ish the engineer turned up. He suggested in no uncertain terms that the previous engineers who had looked after my boiler were a bunch of slackers. He changed about half of the components and now my hot water is hot enough to strip the skin off my back, and more importantly I don't have to empty a bowl every 9 hours!

Leon and I went the the Albert in the evening for some karaoke madness. The clientèle may have been replaced from previous incarnations, but they are still the same in spirit. The singing was at times appalling (and not just when I was up there) and the behaviour as bizarre as ever.

One of the better valentine days I've had.

Sunday Jo and I went to the gym. I cycled, ran, and climbed a mountain. I was worried that I might feel just a little stiff yesterday and today, but apart from a slight twinge in my thighs when I walk up or down stairs I am relatively free of effects. This pleases me greatly. I just need to get back into the habit of getting my unfit, ageing body into the gym at least a couple times a week.

In technical news I have changed my web server provider, and so far it seems to have been relative painless too! I'm hoping the new provider's email server handles SPAM a little better than my previous one. They certainly handle my website needs better!
