It goes on to say that Since back is part of the meaning of revert, one should not say that someone reverts back to a certain type of behaviour.
If it were just the one email - I might have shrugged it off as a typo but it seems that half the company has started to substitute replying (or getting back to) with the word revert.
It irks the Grammar Nazi in me.
