Nothing ever happens - The Paranoid Android
...musings of a mechanically depressed robot...
Nothing ever happens
I met up with the pig farmer last night for beer, some damn fine burger, interesting news, and karaoke.

After a swift one in the Weatherspoons we headed to the Gourmet Burger Kitchen. OH EM GEE! Those burgers are good. After another beer back in the Weatherspoons we headed to the pub with the karaoke.

The place was almost empty when we got there... the only patrons: a group of rather wasted city types. This did not bode well... as the last time I was there the night was ruined by drunken types. Worst still - the landlady was also well on the way to being wasted... but I decided to stick around and see how it went.

The karaoke started soon after we got there. After the barman had sung a couple and the landlady had murdered one (she has a good voice, but I think someone made the mistake of telling her that - so she tends to over do every song - adding her own unique "style" to them) Leon sang and then pressured me into putting a song up.

I've said before - this place doesn't have my preferred choice, so I have to wing it a little. Having a couple of incredible drunk city types make fools of themselves just before me made me feel a little better... I couldn't possibly be that bad now could I?

I chose Queen's Crazy Little Thing Called Love, and was later convinced to try Del Amitri's Nothing Ever Happens which went down particularly well with the other patrons. I was finally tricked into singing the Blues Brothers version of Rawhide... which turned out to be a lot of fun, so I might forgive Leon... eventually.

It was getting rather late by then - but I managed to get one of the last trains home.

Thanks for mentioning Gourmet Burger Kitchen...it brought back a slough of memories about London for me. I didn't eat there, but it still did. They aren't very interesting memories for anyone besides me and my husband, though, so I won't bore you with the details!

Two personal faves of mine that you sang there, hurrah! Now that I'm finally settled into my new job - pint soon after work one evening?
