Nostalgia just ain't what it used to be
I woke up - and more shockingly got up at a reasonable time today. I noticed a lack of laundry detergent so a quick trip to the shops between the rather severe downpours was in order. Apart from the soap I also grabbed some bread and baked beans and some frozen veg. A bit of a mixed bag I'll admit.

I got back to the house to discover I'd already got about half a dozen tins of baked beans - just as well they last forever isn't it?

I cooked some lunch ("Chicken Kevins" and veg) and got some laundry done. Whilst the meal was cooking I watched a Derren Brown" live show. He's one clever if fucked up chappy... I was especially disturbed by him lying on broken glass and letting some big bloke stand on him... all the more disturbing as he was lying face down - and the bloke had one foot on his head!

Not the best of things to watch whilst eating!

I had a sudden urge to get my music back on my PC. I once managed to get about three quarters of my CD's ripped to my PC before the hard drive crapped out and I lost the lot. It was a 200G drive - and I almost filled it. To say I was a little pissed off would probably be an understatement. I've never really tried again - but as I have the day to myself - and need to put my mind to something I decided this was the task I needed.

The main trouble I have (apart from four rather large boxes full of CD's) is that I can be just a little bit anal about the whole thing. I rip using iTunes which is not the fastest, but does allow me to sort and organise my music. I have to rename almost every other track because whoever uploads the names has a shaky idea about capitalisation and punctuation. They misname (and misspell) tracks and artists - or include the artist in with the album name - or worse the track name!

I'm all backed up these days! This does mean, should the worse happen, I'll be fine... although I have no idea how long it will take to restore 250 gigs of music over an internet connection... but it's probably a lot faster than if I had to rip all the damn things again!

Whilst digging my boxes of CD's out of the spare room I came across a bag of photo's. There are a couple of fantastic shots of various family members that should be good for blackmail in the near future... and a couple that would be worth a lot of blackmail against me if anyone else ever gets their hands on them!

The best were of "The Band." I can't believe how bad we looked... and how cocky. Some guy Jim knew was a budding photographer - and he practised on us for a couple rehearsals and a gig or two. There are a couple of interesting ones - I might fire up the scanner and upload them... watch this space!
