The best things in life... - The Paranoid Android
...musings of a mechanically depressed robot...
The best things in life...
...usually come at considerable cost.

I have been down. Life has not been smooth sailing. Yet there have been fantastic things happening. I think a late New Years resolution should be "See the silver lining"

"The Project" is in it's last stage. It's not any better organised or easier on my mind, but it is nearly over... and that is something to celebrate. I work with a great bunch of people - some of whom I like very much... they are like my family away from home. My job may be underpaid and over worked, but so is everyone else's. Fact is; few people get along so well as my work mates. "Management" excluded, there's not a real bad one in the bunch... and by "Management" I mean my guv'nor's guv'nor.

There are plans afoot to fix up the house... baby steps - but plans are better than no plans. Once started I can see how it might just work out.

I have a bunch of good friends and a family who look out for me.

I have just eaten the smelliest cheese on the planet. A good Stilton should smell a little - but I think having the fridge off all night (I was defrosting the freezer) made it that little bit riper - but my word it was tasty. I had to defrost the freezer because the door doesn't close properly at times... and when it's left slightly ajar it ices up. I'm lucky enough to have a big chest freezer in the garage to store the things than needed to be kept frozen frozen over night. As a bye product I now know what's in the chest freezer as I had to rearrange it so the stuff from the fridge would fit. It's mildly annoying to know there was sausages and steak in the freezer when I was hunting around for things to eat! Now I know I'll make a point of using them before they end up wasted.

I'm up to my neck in debt - but I've past the worst. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel... or at least I think I can - I have to hope it's not an oncoming train. I can pay the mortgage. The credit card hasn't got any worse in the last month... and January is bonus time.

So if you see me typing a bunch of depressing stuff here - remind me to cheer up!

Silver linings....

... aren't they just wonderful?

I was lying here, on my sick-bed, thinking of you when I thought I would just take a last look at LJ, and there you were! Being the positive and optimistic man I know and love!!('cept the bit 'bout the on-coming train eh?!!)

Spend the bonus wisely, eat from the freezer for the next month, take pleasure in spending time with friends and the world is your oyster.

You are allowed to write depressing stuff. That's what journals are for. None the less, we will tell you to cheer up, count your blessings and most of all, keep looking for the silver lining!

Yuk 'bout the cheese. Probs too smelly for my liking.

Take care sweetie, see you soon. Hugs,n,stuff. xx

Always around if you need to talk.. that's not an invite for a drunken middle of the night call though :P
*hugs n stuff*

Cheer up, darlin'...you found food to eat, that's a bonus. You're getting the debt to managable porportions, that's excellent. And you do have loving friends and family thinking about you and surrounding you - who could ask for anything more?

Depressing times hurt, but the lovely thing about them is they can't kill us. We keep breathing, we keep seeing everything around us. Eventually, the beauty of the world erases the pain, and we're back to living again. I honestly believe that.

Definately see the silver lining :) You've got family and friends that love you heaps. As for debt .. no worse than 99% of the population .. you have as you say a roof over your head and will undoubtedly soon have lighting upstairs .. you sorted that out yet? If not .. I'll come round and sort if for you!!

lol .. suppose it wouldn't make too much diff to me either .. I'm so shortsighted, light doesn't really make much of a difference to what I can and can't see without me specs!!

my hallway is pitch black at night without a light on as my front door is still boarded up :X I was on the phone last night, walked into the hall and straight into a stack of storage boxes, i'm sure the person i was talking to thought I was crazy lol. Maybe darkness isn't so great :D

Keep on heading towards that light at the end of the tunnel sweetie and remember all those that are behind you and willing you forwards.

I would say the most important things in life are having a roof over your head, food in the cupboard and loving friends and family..which you've got so all is not bad. And your journal is where you can share your thoughts good or bad and those around you will show you how much they care and will help to lift your spirits :)

Hang in there, babe. Let me know if you need anything. I'm pretty handy with a paintbrush, although I found wallpapering a bit sticky. And eat more from the freezer, that'll help save a bit of dosh. :D
Lotsa hugs, xx

Hello you!

How are you? Loved your 'photo's. Especially the tree. Most atmospheric!

What great friends you all are!

Not really my place to be making this entry, but having read all of the above, and as an interested party, I just had to say thankyou for your support. I don't actually know some of you, but having heard lots about you, feel I can take a liberty in this instance.
