No news is good news? - The Paranoid Android
...musings of a mechanically depressed robot...
No news is good news?
Oh my - where to start.

I guess the best news to start!  - I saw Sam yesterday.  I haven't seen her for ages... I believe the other cats have chased her out of the house.  I was getting worried - but she appears to be well fed and well groomed, so she may have found herself some new owners.  She followed me up the road, so I had to go back and leave her some food to keep her from following me all the way into Romford! :)

I was on holiday yesterday.  I spent almost the entire day in Romford looking for presents.  I had to get a "Secret Santa" present for one of the guys in work which took all of about 5 minutes.  I also had to get La-La and Minxee something for our post Christmas get together.  This has been made more difficult by the total lack of help from said young ladies.  I have no idea what they already have... so the gifts that seemed most appropriate have most probably already been got.  So I have settled for edible underwear consumable presents on the basis that if they already have them, they can always use more - plus some bizarre stuff that they definitely wont have :)  - that teaches them.

The weekend was particularly lazy.  Saturday I didn't bother getting dressed... I watched Season 4 of Start Trek: The Next Generation while trying to get the new WOWRoster working and playing WOW.  You don't really get much more lazy than that.

Sunday I woke late (ish) and went to the 'rental units for the day.  I had to hurry back for 20:00 because Pterry's "The Hogfather" was on the TV.  It was very well done... and the concluding part on Monday stopped me going to the gym for about the 8th time in the last 6 weeks... oh well - there's always the new year!

I love crisp winter mornings.  This morning it was foggy - it was cold and the air smelt of winter.  If it will just stay dry and still I don't mind the cold.

Last week was the Company Christmas Party. It was a black tie affair and the turnout was good. It was nice to hear there were no fist fights this year! It is always interesting to see what the girls wear. If you are a boy the choice is not that great. A black dinner suit, white shirt and bow-tie are the standard. There are the few who are brave and wear a kilt... there appeared to be no-one sporting the black shirt, white jacket and tie that seemed "so popular" the previous year. This might be because everyone else assumed they were staff and expected them to wait on them! :) Then there was the guy who came in his work suit.

But the girls... oh the choices for them are endless! From the rather formal ball gown (the woman's dinner suit) to the elegant "little black number" ... then on to the trouser suit, the nightie, skirt and blouse, the sometimes strategically placed patches of cloth that wouldn't seem out of place on a pole dancer... the latter is obviously not "black tie" to me - but there doesn't appear to be hard and fast rules for the girls.

The journey home was interesting - Big Ade was a lot more than merry and I was charged with pouring him into a cab at Romford. This turned out to be impossible on two counts. The first was he was SURE there was a bus due any minute (it was about an hour after the last bus was due) and that led him to the kebab house... and there was no force on earth that was going to get him out of there.

I left him there... happy and merry all in one... and walked home. It was (probably) gone 3 when I got there.

Suhaila (or "Little Easy") is a young graduate at work who has been lumbered with "The Project From Hell" and to make things even more interesting for her I have been messing with her mind. I may one day change my middle name to Dennis. The last two statements are related.

You paid attention during 86% of high school!

85-100%  You must be an autodidact, because American high schools don't get scores that high!  Good show, old chap!

Do you deserve your high school diploma?

Oh I'm not being mean! But she has been trying to guess my middle name and insists it is Dennis... and was then confused as there are no work records of my having a middle initial.
