Die computer Die - The Paranoid Android
...musings of a mechanically depressed robot...
Die computer Die
Friday evening I met Penny on the way home from work.  Penny used to work for S&P "back in the day" in the cashier department.  I actually walked past her (on the way to the chip shop) thinking, "I know that person" and it wasn't until I walked past her again on the way back from the chippy that I remembered who it was.

We had a brief chat about life and all that.  Basically she asked loads of questions and I answered them.  This is how a lot of chats I have go with people I know but don't know well.  I don't ask questions because I feel like I'm prying - but the other person doesn't seem to mind asking loads.  She did volunteer some information like the fact she was now working in London and living in Hornchurch... but that was about it.

I think I'm a social misfit.

Friday evening Misty and I watched Jarhead.  It was a rather damning look at the original Iraq war from the viewpoint of a company (platoon?) of marines.  It was also a very well made film.  It's one of only a few films that both Misty and I rate highly.  If you haven't seen it you should go watch it.

Saturday we went to the Café for breakfast.  It's not really a café - it's more of a "caf" or greasy spoon as I like to call them.  It might not be healthy but it tastes damn good... stick to your ribs good.

After a wander about the shops we popped into the 'rents where I was frustrated by a wireless network card in Bianca's PC.  After spending many minutes trying to configure the damn thing I gave up and wandered downstairs to admit defeat to the family.  It was just seconds after that Bianca came down the stairs declaring internet connectivity to all.  The damn PC just wanted me away from it.

There are times when I really hate PC's

After some tea and a nice chat we headed home.  Misty was out this weekend so I was getting ready for a marathon WoW session.  I met G online and we proceeded to kick monster arse and get my character leveled a couple times.  It's funny how I was the one to get G playing WoW and he is already past me with his character.  I obviously don't play enough (wink wink Misty dear)

G wimped out in the small hours and I logged after just a couple more minutes online while I put some of my gear up on auction, and headed to bed myself.

Sunday morning the alarm went off at 08:00 (as usual) and I actually woke up!  I listened to the radio in bed for about an hour then got up.  After a quick breakfast I logged back into WoW and saw that I had managed to sell a few of my items!  I will have to raise the "buy now" amounts on future sales.  I headed my character off into the wilderness and managed to get another level or two before my PC froze.  It stayed frozen no matter how many key combinations I pressed... so I reset the machine.

Now the machine will not boot into windows.  It gets to the loading splash screen then "bsod" and reboots.  I booted from the install CD and tried a repair and it tells me there is no valid drive to repair.  It would appear that the drive has corrupted... which doesn't bode well as that happened to the last drive that was in there.  I may have to rebuild my old machine (which is slower) with a spare drive.

I really really hate PC's at times.

I consoled myself by watching a lot of crap films and playing realarcade games on the laptop.  I have created a "Virtual Village" on the laptop... and managed to kill one of my little guys already.  I am pleased to say I have managed get my population up by a couple since then and the food situation is now sorted for a while.

It's time for me to run!  Misty is waiting at home for me (or will be soon)

It is real. I was wondering around woolworths (a chain of stores in the UK that sell just about everything) shortly after the film came out and I spotted it on sale for half price!

I must admit to not having seen any since.
