Sittin' on the dock of the bay - The Paranoid Android

Sittin' on the dock of the bay
Friday I had the worst hangover I've ever had.  Thursday night we went out to celebrate (commiserate?) Kirsten and Lucy leaving.  I didn't eat a single thing all day and drank lots.  I was an idiot and I paid for it... I was so bad I didn't go to the pub for lunch.  I think the smell of pub would have triggered a fatal spate of puking.

On my way home I got curry and rice from my local Chinese takeaway.  I'm not sure why, but Chinese food (well, the kind of Chinese food you get in a takeaway!) usually fixes any stomach problem I have.  By about midnight I was feeling a lot better.

Misty was a dirty stop-out so I had the place to myself.  This is usually a "bad thing™" - I'll stay up all night watching crap TV and finally fall asleep on the sofa.  The following morning I'll awake feeling like shit and not having slept at all... but Friday I was wise (and not intoxicated) so I went to bed at an almost reasonable 2 of the AM.

Misty managed to get home, shower, dress and leave the house without my being aware in any way.  She called me from the hair dressers and told me to meet her.  In a moment of madness I cut my own hair.  Unless Misty has been lying to me, I didn't make that bad a job of it either.  It had just gotten to the point of anoying the hell out of me so it had to all come off.

I came down stairs to a "present" from Mr Twinks, he'd taken a dump in the middle of the sofa.  Chasing him around the house I finally cornered him in the guest room where he turned and bit a chunk out of my thumb.  I would have killed him then and there but the bastard managed to disappear into thin air.  I actually turned the bed upside down to find him but he wasn't there any more.  His stealth skills probably saved his life.  After that fuss I was running a little late to meet Misty, but still managed to get to the hair dressers before they finished with her.

We had arranged to meet Dora and Andrew in Upminster at about 13:30... which eventually turned into meeting them in Leigh at about 15:15.  Misty was feeling a little delicate from her wild night out and bugger all sleep, so we went hunting for a nice greasy breakfast.  The Elm Park "Caff" was full, so we ended up at the Wimpy in Upminster.  The quality of the meal was superior to the usual "Caff" experience... sated we took a quick wander around the French food market and got back to the station to catch the train with seconds to spare.

"This had to be the train Dora and Andrew got" we said to each other... but no.  They had got the train that takes the "scenic" route... via Dagenham Dock and Rainham.  This meant we managed to get to Leigh about 20 minutes before they did.

Once we'd all met up - we explored Old Leigh.  It's quite a climb from the estuary to the old town and the temperature did not help!  We wandered back to the estuary to find somewhere nice to eat.  A pub (Ye Olde Smack) Misty and I had been in before seemed like a good idea, but we found that it must have changed ownership since we were last in there as the food was nothing much to write about.  There was a nice selection of ales though, so all was not lost.

Misty wanted ice cream for afters, so we wandered next door and got some.  We sat on the riverside eating ice cream and watched the tide go out.  It was very relaxing.  Andrew, Dora and misty took lots of pictures which I hope to see uploaded somewhere in the near future (hint hint)

After another nice ale in Ye Olde Smack we headed off home.

Sunday I did a few chores... but it was generally too damn hot to do anything much at all.  I did get to spend some quality time with my little princess... I spent a bit of quality time with my wife too! ;)

Workin' on the photos. Will get them up at some point. Both sets turned out rather well.

And just for the record, it was the Northern Line (and the lack of it between East Finchley and Camden), that made us so terribly late. Which got us onto the 'scenic route' train to Leigh. Effing public transportation. :-/

Nope. I'm lazy like a lazy thing. Did you tell Misty about the beer festival on Friday yet?
