What a weekend - The Paranoid Android
...musings of a mechanically depressed robot...
What a weekend
Friday was good. I think I managed to do *no* work at all ... I promised myself I'd do some work at home (now I have the relevant software installed) over the weekend. Did I ?? Did I heck as like (oooh - I *lurve* that expression >laffs<) Friday night I went to the cinema and saw Swordfish. This film has been panned in the UK by the press. I thought it was entertaining. Nothing much to think about - but good eye-candy! I also watched a VCD of Shrek that TD (Mini-me) bought from a web site for a fiver. The quality wasn't bad but it did have chinese style subtitles which were a tad anoying. For some unaccountable reason you try and *read* them. I didn't get to bed untill very late (3ish) so I didn't wake up on saturday till well after midday. I got a text from stroppy saying he had a headache and wouldn't be going to the cinema. Just as well I got my fix Friday night really!
I spent the rest of saturday trying to get LJ to load. Seems they moved the servers and encountered a *few* problems along the way! I finally managed to read a couple of journals and post a picture of Misty in a corset (of course that's not *really* Misty! - ya think i'd want loads of peeps perving at my lass?)

Sunday was a complete nightmare. My dad's mate bought a PC last year from some dodgy shop, with a hooky copy of windows and office and everything else. It only cost him £600. The down side is - he managed to download a virus recently (he thinks) and his PC wouldn't boot. So time to format the old HD and reinstall everything, except he hasn't got any install disks! So in a blind panic he calls my dad ("doesn't your James know a bit about PC's?") and dad pesters the life out of me to go round and fix his PC. So I download a couple of generic drivers for everything from sound cards to cd roms and armed with 15 floppies, 10 CD's and tea (I'm fussy about the tea I drink - OK?) I spend most of the day there trying to get his PC to work. I hate doing this sort of thing, especially on someone elses PC. If it's mine - I can give up and get back to it another day (I have 3 PC's at home in this state!) but because it's someone else - you *have* to finish it then and there. As always I forgot something, (a FAT32 boot disk! - d'oh!) but he'd actually been wise enough to make a system disk, and it worked !! ... By the time I got home it was gone midnight. I thought i'd have a quick power nap and go online, but thats always a foolish move. I awoke this morning at 7, still clothed, and feeling like I hadn't slept at all.

While I'm waiting for the bus this morning, I notice I have a missed call on my phone. My phone tells me the numbers of the last 10 missed calls, but it doesn't list this one (cos it's either a withheld or not available caller id). I text around a couple of people who would normally call me from a phone that don't give out numbers. I draw a blank, and whilst clearing one of the mesages, I get another call (which I acidently divert to my answer service because I'm clearing my messages). I'm intregued now! About 5 minutes later (while I actually *on* the bus) I get a call again, and it was Misty! ... The last person I expect to be calling me at 9:45 in the morning! Unfortunately the bus was a tad noisy (there was a reason for this - i'll get to that in a minute) and a propper conversation wasn't possible, but it cheered me up loads!

"Why was the bus so noisy?" you are probably asking now, .... you're not? - Oh - I'll tell you anyway. Just after I finish my call, I notice the bus is only doing about 5 MPH ... it seems to be stuck in one of the lower gears cos the engine was screaming. We stop at the next stop, and the bus only just about manages to pull away. then just before it gets to a particularly busy set of lights, it conks out completely. So I had a nice long walk into work this morning!

Lunchtime is now over - I must get back to work ...

Current Mood: busy busy
Current Music: complete silence

rofl! OMG, I didn't know that about the bus. I guess it's good that I called, or the long walk into work would have been *really* bad. ;)

It was quite refreshing really ... it was only 2 stops from where I'd normally get off ... I'm surprised you couldn't hear how noisy the bus was on the phone - I could hardly hear you at all.
