The Paranoid Android
...musings of a mechanically depressed robot...
Air head
This weekend was a mixture of success and failure.

I successfully got myself a new pair of shoes, and some insoles for an almost new pair I have at home.  I also intended to repair a second pair where the sole was coming away from the rest of the shoe.  I was in a quandary as to whether I should take both shoes to the menders as only the one was "broken."  I decided, with the help of Misty, I should take just the one.  It would have been slightly more helpful if I had taken the broken one!  It's quite embarrassing to get to the cobbler with a single shoe - asking for it to be fixed only to find bugger all wrong with it.  As it turns out - it too was starting to come apart (so I was saved some embarrassment) and he fixed it.

Misty was shopping for some shoes - and ended up looking at underwear - so I decided it was time for a sharp exit - which is a shame as I missed the shagging!  I console myself with the facts that I was in the toy store - and they were minging.

We watched a couple of films in the evening... having finally got my copy of Serenity (after ordering the series by mistake!) we watched that, followed by Shaun of the dead.  It was about this time that I started snoring - so Misty sent me to bed!

Sunday is generally chore day.  I did 90% of the ironing and cleaned the fish tank.  Misty cut my hair so now I'm smart! :)

The main road was shut to traffic for a while.  We braved the cold and walked to the shops for a copy of the Sunday Times... not because we wanted to read the news - but they were giving away a DVD with Richard E Grant in it.  Misty's eyes are probably glazing over with the memory just reading about this!  The film in question was How to Get Ahead in Advertising - quite a clever title given the story line!

Misty perved loudly throughout the film, especially during the parts where Mr Grants "parts" where on display.  I, on the other hand, silently marvelled at the beauty of Rachel Ward even (especially?) with bed hair and a night gown even a nun would have looked more dowdy in.

We ordered in - we're lazy - sue us!

I forgot to mention - on Monday Misty and I went to the cinema to go see Good Night, and Good Luck.  This film describes how a TV journalist (Edward R. Murrow) stood up to a Senator (Joseph McCarthy) during the communist "which hunt" that took place in the early 50's.  The film was thought provoking, and I felt myself admiring the Edward character.  I'm not usually one for films based on fact - I prefer escapism - but this film is very well done and I would recommend it to anyone.

The saddest part of the film isn't in the film at all - it's the fact that my government - and that of the US - is using the same scaremongering tactics to remove our civil liberties.  The only change; we've replaced communism with terrorism.

Current Mood: awake awake
Current Music: James Brown - The Boss
