rant rant rant... wtf did all this angst come from?
I haven't written here for a while... hell I haven't had the chance to read much here for a while... but today, dammit, I am going to write something!

At work I am "spinning up my own arse" to steal a phrase from an old friend. Wavy is on holiday leaving just Nicky and I to work on the new GL. We have just started the "User Acceptance Testing" phase and there is a whole bunch of work required by strict deadlines. We have the dubious pleasure of introducing the new system to the end users next week.

Between GL UAT tasks I have my Business as Usual stuff to get done. This has meant the occasional 9 o'clock finish and the less occasional 9 o'clock start. Lunch is generally had on the go.

I think that's enough work rant for today. In other news...

Our youngest cats are only just about talking to us after a trip to the vet yesterday to be "done." Max has a look in his eye as if to say "What have you done to me you bastard?!" Scarlet has obviously forgiven me enough to come sleep on my last night, but left cat pooh paw prints all over my suit trousers. I'd like to think that was accidental.

I need to contact apple again as they still haven't sent packing to return Misty's iPod. This has had the single benefit of me finding the Karaoke mini-disks I thought I had lost... expect to find links to one or two of the gems coming soon to a entry near here. I've also found the beginning of a damn cool 80's mix disk that only has 6 tracks... but they are all good enough to play the disk on repeat on the way into work in the morning.

Talking of making my way into work in the mornings... can I just say I think I have lost touch completely with "people today" When did everyone become offensive, rude, smelly fashion victims? I have been getting in "early" these last couple days so I have been sharing the train with the real rush hour crowd... and I can't believe how many pimps and hookers work a 9 to 5 in the city! Surely these half dressed, fake tan, golden shoes (wtf!?) half dressed (did I mention that already?) whores of Babylon can't actually work in an office? I see more T&A on the way into work than I do on my "not safe for work filter" here... and by god that's saying something!

Seriously - what is it with metallic coloured shoes? In the past these were considered tacky even in the nightclubs of Essex... now people are wearing them to work!?! On the subject of shoes, when did it become okay to wear flip-flops in the office? I hate the sound flip-flops make. The drag-slap, drag-slap, drives me nuts. I'm not sure if it's just because I hate the noise, but I also think they make the wearer look trashy.

To be fair it's not just the girls. The number of males stripped to the waist with their smalls showing above their half off trousers - travelling into London during the rush hour - has reached epidemic proportions. What sort of job do these wannabe Chippendales have? I know my boss would frown upon my turning up for work in similar attire... frown, or perhaps vomit.

Their (lack of) dress sense is occasionally completely overshadowed by their arrogance and rudeness. The phrase "Please let the people off the train before trying to board" must be a foreign language only a few understand... that common sense would dictate this is a good idea as a matter of course also goes to prove that common sense is anything but common. My annoyance levels reach never before attained heights when I stand to the side to let someone off the train only to have the inconsiderate prick behind me walk past onto the train stopping those trying to get off. These levels get a top up when I try to get off the train a couple of stops later and some other inconsiderate prick on the platform tries the same move preventing *me* from getting off the train. If looks could kill I'd be serving several life sentences by now. I take some smug satisfaction that I may be responsible for a couple of dislocated shoulders as I walk through the bastards as I get off the train.

One of these days I will snap and scream at them... I'll probably end up committed - the men in white coats will wheel me away and you'll hear no more from me...

Talking, as I was, of common sense, who in their right mind boards a rush hour train with a baby in a pushchair? People continually prove beyond all doubt that they are unable to make sensible decisions for themselves, so I believe it's time to declare some form of marshal law... have soldiers on all platforms with guns directing commuters. Give them fashion police powers... and lynch hang people who smell of 6 day old sweat.

aaaaaahhhhhh - that was most cathartic. I should have done that long ago... I think I can almost face the journey home now.

Lastly... it's my dad's birthday today... happy birthday dad. I'll try to pop in on the way home if I can get away from work at a reasonable hour this evening.

It's possible that the parent of the baby didn't have a choice?

I'm auditing you in a couple of weeks .. make sure the UAT is well documented ;oP

UAT Doc is nothing to do with me... tis Users that have to document! :p

What about development of the UAT test schedule and sign off of expected results? in GTA that was down to project staff and not users ... not the same in Finance?

this is why, no one i have ever worked with, or will ever work with, reads my journal :P

development of test schedule - that would be the GFA test team... as this is a corporate project, all project management is central.. sign off of expected results - that'd be the users! :)

the reason the GTA implementation wasn't as smooth as it aught to have been was they let the various project areas sign off on the users behalf, then the users found out after go live all was not peachy.

My job here is a facilitator between the project managers and the users... I'm nothing more than a glorified translator :)

That's not quite true re GTA. Test requirement docs and UAT test scripts were signed off by the users and team managers on PKS. Final UAT test scripts were signed by individuals performing the tests, including Stell, and other subject matter experts. The main reason all was not peachy was cos BoNY's code is shite! (which is why Lux is being delayed and I'll be unlikely to be allowed to have hols for my anniversary! I was at the NRA sign-off, all the user reps signed off, including Nicky.

I have a few comments in regard to your post. Firstly, LMAO @ "I'd like to think that was accidental."

Secondly... "Surely these half dressed, fake tan, golden shoes (wtf!?) half dressed (did I mention that already?) whores of Babylon can't actually work in an office? "... maybe THIS is why no one will employ me! Pinstripe trousers, white blouse and black shoes are obviously an office no no.. I am so out of touch.. I do not own any 'golden' shoes of any description.

Thirdly.. "Our youngest cats".. how many do you have?!?!?!

And finally, I agree with Teya, maybe mother and child didn't have a choice. I for one hate taking a kid on public transport as much as I hate other people doing it, but not everyone has a choice.

1) If it wasn't accidental then the cats really have taken over our household!

2) You need to get a pair right now! What are you doing still reading... go go go!

3) We have 4 cats. It's a long story... I think it's documented in the journal somewhere - I'll try and link to it for you! :)

4) There is always a choice! Stay at home an extra hour, get up a couple hours earlier - that's choice! :)

1) Pets own humans, get used to it :P

2) Sod off!

3) oh joy :D

4) Why should the mother arrive hours early? Why don't you travel to work earlier :)

I'm not sure she was a working mother... but then you can't really tell by the way people dress any more...
