I just want to sleeeeeeeeeeeep
On the ongoing saga of getting sign off for the GTA project: we got 80% finished on Friday.

Last Thursday was the monthly "Happy Hour" down in the canteen area. This month they ran out of beer by 20:00... this probably saved me a very sore head on Friday and allowed me to get in by 09:00. I was supposed to be working from home on Friday so I could take the bastard kittens (see later in the post) to the vets to be stabbed. As it was I ended up working until 15:00 and getting home just in time to get them to the vets. I then had to log into work from home to chase up on a couple of outstanding emails.

The trip to the vets was pretty uneventful with the exception of them running somewhat late. The waiting room was full - which is pretty unusual.

Saturday I was due to go to Jim's Sister's house-warming party. I thought I could get some chores done in the morning before heading off into deepest darkest Grays (or Chav Central as Jim likes it to be known) I got my hair cut. The barbers is a no appointment affair with usually just 15 or so minutes wait. Saturday there was just a guy waiting with a small (just walking) child. No worries I thought! Unfortunately it was the little kid who was there for a haircut - and he didn't want one - so for the next hour he screamed and kicked and snotted and fought while the dozy hair dresser tried to cut his hair... I would have just stabbed him in the eye with the scissors. I guess this is why I will never be a dad.

After that I only had time for a quick bite to eat before I set off for Jim's. Jim had asked to to take a few band photo's with me so I racked around in the loft and found all my photos. There are some damn scary ones in there!

The trip to Jim's was hampered by the usual curse of the 'droid... if I am travelling on any sort of public transport you don't want to travel with me! Overhead lines between Barking and Fenchurch Street were "severely" damaged and so trains were running damn late if they were running at all!

After a quick pint at Jim's new local and meeting his new lady (Lisa) we set off to his sisters (Jo). There we met the entire family and many drinks were consumed. Original band drummer (Gary) was in attendance which coupled with the photo's meant much nostalgic anecdotes. I passed on spending the night on Jim's couch (probably much to Lisa's relief) and managed to get home in good time to tape Doctor Who for Misty.

Sunday, feeling only a little worse for wear, I met Dad, Jo and Bianca at our local for a few pints and a game or 4 of pool. After a rusty start (I can not remember the last time I played pool) I found a little of my old form and managed to give dad a decent game or two. We foolishly let Bianca at the jukebox early on but managed to redeem ourselves by some excellent choices by Jo and myself. Jo's musical taste is improving all the time! :)

About 15:00 we headed back to Mum and Sunday dinner... Thanks mum!

After a very enjoyable afternoon/evening shooting the breeze at the 'rental units I got back home with the intention of at least getting a load of washing going... You know what they say about the best laid plans of Mice and Men...

I watched a DVD... and headed off to bed.

Yesterday I had to get all the chores I had ignored over the rest of the long weekend done. I found out one of the cats had used a towel as a litter tray, and then ran out of laundry detergent. Popping back to the 'rental abode proved most profitable - not only did I get some detergent I managed to come away with 8 beers and a free supper!

I had every intention of getting into work early this morning so it was frustrating in the extreme when I couldn't get to sleep. The cats played merry hell down stairs, a gnat ate me alive, my neighbours (No 13) partied - and I lay in bed just wishing I could sleep. One of the kittens managed to push the bedroom door open (I had blocked it with a door stop) and then pulled the lamp of the bedside "table" and smashed a glass. Not just any glass but a lead crystal glass that Misty and I got from Scotland. We so nearly had one less kitten... I was all for drowning the bastard. After a explosion of expletives I threw him out the bedroom and sat and cried on the floor.

One of the bastards at No 13 left in a car beeping the horn all the way down the road. About an hour later another of them streaked across the green yelling "West Ham United." If I had a gun I would now be in prison. This was 04:30

I was close to getting up and going into work at 05:30... just 30 more minutes and I would have - but no - that's when I fell asleep. The alarm went of at 07:00. I set it for 08:00. It went off at 08:00 - I switched it off and didn't wake up again until 09:50. I still feel like I didn't get any sleep at all.

A. - Misty does indeed know she married a maniac... I'm entirely sure if she is happy about it though!

B. - It was tempting - but then I would have been the kind of neighbour I'd hate to have.

C. - I believe Misty may well divorce me if I killed one of the little bastards dah-links

A. I could do worse.

B. I'm glad you didn't. You're too cute for prison.

C. You are absolutely right there, my love. :)
