The continuing dumbness that is me. (How to get lost in London)
I had a ten o'clock this morning... now this wouldn't be noteworthy at all except it wasn't in the building where I work. This is how I ended up taking a brief tour of "London on the Thames" during the latter part of nine this morning.

First some details. The meeting was between me, my Guv, and a techy guy for Oracle. As we (The Guv and I) want Techy Guy to do some work - we agree to meet him where he works rather than him come see us.

I plan to get into work about 9:30 - plenty of time to get my shitz together and get my arse over to the other building. Unfortunately I run a little late - and I don't get into the office until 9:40. Rather than log into my mail (login in takes at least 15 minutes) I grab a pad and head off out....

Now some of you will already know this... but I feel the need to point out... we have many offices in London. My main contact for Oracle works in Trinity Towers (near Tower Bridge)... so I assume (wrongly as it turns out) that Techy Guy will be there. I head off to Trinity Towers... all the while trying to get hold of Guv on his mobile.

As it is getting closer to 10:00 ... and I am getting lost around St Katherines Dock.. I give Techy Guy a call... he asks me where I am - I tell him I'm lost in the dock, he wonders aloud why the hell I'd be in the dock as that's way out of the way to get to Thames Court...

Now I know where Thames Court is (near St Pauls) - I spent about half my waking life there about a year ago on the last big project I did. I apologise and tell him I'll make my way there post haste...

When I arrive - I see Guv arriving at Reception... turns out he'd underestimated the time it takes to get there... so at least I didn't arrive last! :)

Looking on the bright side - I got a walk along the Thames while most were slaving away in an office...

I'm fairly certain I'm taking a holiday to London over XMAS/NY this year.

British Airways is insanely cheap! It should be fun- even if it is off season.

I didn't end up getting a job there- but at least I can visit & see what I'm missing.

I'm not sure London has an off season... or perhaps it never has a season :) Central London is great at Christmas - all fairy lights and that jazz.

Bizarrely: I'll be visiting the states this Christmas. We could pass each other in the skies over the big pond.

I'm not sure when we're due back - but if you're still in the country when we return we could meet up for a beer.
