Fuck the banks - fuck them all
I have to pay a large bill… so being the conscientious good boy that I am (sometimes) I checked my account balances online. I find that my CC bill has not been paid and, more to the point, a charge has been levied because there was insufficient funds in my account.

Now my CC bill was due on the 15th, and I was paid on the 15th. The online account statement shows my balance for the 15th as being more than the balance of my CC.

I have just called the bank and they tell me that they tried to take my CC payment before my salary was applied... like that is my fault? I know for a fact that my salary is transferred electronically before the actual day of being paid, so they have effective had my money since the 12th, so how the hell can they contemplate telling me that the bill was due before my money arrived?

The "nice" gentleman at "IF" told me he'd try and get the charge removed, and for that I'm grateful. I am still not happy with entire situation though.

If I hadn't checked my account today, I would not have found out about this until I tried to use my credit card, which is almost maxed, and had it refused. That would be bloody embarrassing.

Current Mood: fucked off

See, I don't believe that you should be allowed to kill people just because they could benefit from a good killing.... But at times like this, I do rather think you should be able to find them and throw bricks at them.

Change the date of your CC date if you can, it's what I've had to do to avoid the same sort of hassle

The problem is, it's a conspiracy that all banks basically know they have us by the balls (even those of us who technically don't have balls.) In order to transact business, you have to deal with a bank, because you have to go to a bank to get your paycheck cashed. The banks won't cash a check for you unless you have an account there. To have an account, you either have to a)keep your balance above a jillion dollars or incur outrageous services charges, or b)have your paycheck direct deposited. If you finally find a way not to have to deal with the checking account, then you either have to a)buy a money order to pay your bills, or b) fly to Bumfuck, Egypt to pay them in person. So since all of this is horribly inconvenient, you decide to have a checking account. Then, the bank does whatever they want to do with your money, and if you complain, the basic response is "I'm sorry, but that's the policy" and then they say that they hope that this doesn't "sour" your opinion of the customer service you get with the bank!*! Hello!?! Does anybody understand that customer service means helping the customer in every way possible, not inconveniencing them? I could go on forever because my experience with banking customer service lately has been less than pleasant!

Actually, that's a real crock of good stuff.

If I were you, I'd ring them up and insist that they send you (by first class post) a copy of the Banking Code.

Certainly, I know that both Barclays and Lloyds TSB will treat an entire day's transactions as based on the closing balance and not the starting balance if they choose to go ahead and remove funds prior to transferring in BGCs from employers.

Personally, I'd never bank with IF as you have no recourse to going in to see the manager when you are not happy. There's a lot to be said for airing your opinion of the branch's practises face-to-face. :)

Banks suck. I've gone through that in the past myself.
