My wife's **** habit is costing me over a thousand pounds! - The Paranoid Android
...musings of a mechanically depressed robot...
My wife's **** habit is costing me over a thousand pounds!
You may have read somewhere that The Missus has a serious addiction to EVE. You may also have read we need a new PC for her to feed her addiction. We (I) ordered a new PC on the weekend from Dell (that was as much a shock to me as it will be to you!).

As dell is an American company, there is some nonsense about export compliance, and 4 questions you must answer. The first question is straight forward enough - but the last one had me in fits!
no nukes please

In other news we have also purchased a coffee making machine. I have started a latte habit, and I'm not ashamed to admit it! All I need now is to get The Missus to make them... as of now she has only made filter coffee.

I need to get back to work now... so I’ll leave you with: "A quiz result that will surprise no one"

You're Cockney. Despite having an incredibly
incomprehensible accent, you make things even
more difficult by rhyming completely
unconnected things and creating a new word.
God! Is it your mission to confuse tourists?

hail, fellow latte gods n goddesses

^(")'s on the new coffee machine.....some hints:

a) never fill the water resevoir completely to the top, as you could, literally, blow a gasket

b) when putting coffee in your lil basket, do not tamp down, leave fluffy. but make sure you are using espresso ground coffee beans. i like to mix espresso with hazlenut.

c) periodically, say about every 3 months...you will have to de-lime the machine. this means to fill it with white vinegar, and let it run it's course. i do this twice, and then do a water course. then, and this will require a very short handled screwdriver, you need to remove the plate from which the coffee drips, and clear it of all the lil bits of stone and debris. also remove the gasket and clean it well.

d) from time to time, the frothing wand will clog. on my machine, you can remove the lil doohickey from the wand itself. i clean it with a toothpick.

happy latte'ing! i know it sounds like a bit of trouble, but it is sooooooooo worth it. and i'm just passing stuff on that i learned the hard way. *g*

love to you and the missus,

snuggs (")

Good call on the de-liming!

I've been very good so far with keeping it clean... almost striping it down after every cup!

I'll try the "not tamp it down" thing next time!

If I remember rightly Mr Park, in a conversation we had while ya missus was away, you were 'hoping to get her addicted to EVE' in order to allow your own addiction to continue ... so you can hardly blame her if your cunning plan has come to fruition! :op ... as for latte's ... had that addiction for years :o)

The plan was to get her addicted... but not to the point where I have to fight to get to the PC!

New PC should be delivered in 10 days... then we can play EVE side by side! :-D

Sick eh??

did you use the link i sent you for the company discount then?
paranoidandroid From: paranoidandroid Date: February 4th, 2004 09:09 am (UTC) (Link)

I did... the http://dell.co.uk/dell@home one.

It's a tad bizarre - the discount seemed to already be there (compaired to the normal dell.co.uk site) - but the guy on the phone said I'd get a claim form for my discount...

You get a discount on the normal price, plus a rebate. After all, Dell ain't gonna do too badly from the whole of JPM Chase being one desked!

in regards to Q4, i have to wonder, what happens exactly if you answer with a "yes".
hmmm. never thought i'd see "weapons of mass destruction, nuclear applications, missile technology, chemical and biological warfare" in a multiple choice question.

p.s. dell is evil.
