It's cold up north...
Misty and I spent another weekend in Scotland so she could get the wedding dress fitted. I've been led to believe that part of the weekend at least was a success

We left home on Friday morning at the almost ungodly hour of 9... I have been known to leave later for work. The time spent at the airport was uneventful enough, the flight was going well until about 30 minutes from touch-down a small child started screaming its lungs out. It didn't stop screaming until we had landed.

I hate flying.

The car we hired was okay... it had a CD player - that's about all we cared about! The drive to the "hotel" was pleasantly uneventful with the exception of my misdirections. The scenic route is always the better option (at least that is my story - and I will stick to it!)

Our shelter for the two nights was basic. It had been advertised as a hotel with on suite bathroom. I'm not entirely sure our lodgings deserved the title of "hotel", the room was small with a sloped ceiling, and there was no shower in the bathroom. The heating was non existent, and it was cold. Very cold. "Freeze the balls of a brass monkey" cold.

It was situated above a pub, and they did serve some of the best grub. Nothing fancy, just good grub, and loads of it! The pub/hotel was also a truck stop, so the bar was full of burly truckers. I guess this was the reason for the good food in large portions. These guys are not going to be happy about a small poncy dinner.

It was also damn cheap. So all in all I guess I should not complain. But it was cold.

As previously stated the dress fitting seemed to go well. I waited out in the car like a good superstitious boy that I am. Afterwards we went shopping in Bigger. Strange name for a little town, I wonder where Big, Small, Notquiteassmallassmallandnotquiteasbigasbig, Evensmaller, Tiny, and Enormous were.

Misty has decided we will get a house somewhere in Scotland. I must admit the place is beautiful, but I worry about the finer things in life... like broadband!

Another evening in the bar, this time drinking a serious malt. I think I made friends with a couple of the locals when they found out I didn't plan on putting a mixer with it. I think they may have taken me out back to "explain" things to me if I had!

Another night in the fridge that was our room before an arse crack of dawn start the following day.

The trip back was uneventful which was good considering the fog that rolled in from the hills. There were times when seeing the front of the car was difficult. We still made good time to the airport, managing to fit in a cooked breakfast before our flight.

There is a story about a dangerous train ticket, but I feel it's Misty's place to tell that tale.

There were no screaming children on the flight back, but there is never going to be a flight good enough for me to like the flying experience. After landing 15 minutes early we were kept waiting 35 minutes for our bag.

I think we have decided to take the train next time we go "up north."
