A week out, and wedding expense. - The Paranoid Android
...musings of a mechanically depressed robot...
A week out, and wedding expense.
I'm back at work after a week at home. I think I needed the break as I was slowly going stir crazy with this damn project. With all the work complete and just waiting for sign-off from some people in NY, I felt no guilt about a week at home.

For the most part I did nothing. I worked a little on Dave's db analysis until that drove me mad. I also played a lot of AoE II - the conquerors. It's been a very long time since I've played like that.

The down side: There's a shit load of stuff to be done now, both at home and at work.

Misty and I agreed on a slight change of lifestyle. There are times when there's so much to get done that we do nothing. It's not a very good policy so we're going to timetable certain tasks. I think this is a good idea. I'm pretty sure Misty does too.

We sorted out some more of the wedding stuff on Saturday. I got my suit and a shirt, no just a shirt but a *white* shirt, and we tried on rings to see what we wanted. The suit was too long in the leg for me, so the store is adjusting it for me. Not having planned to buy the suit that day, I was wearing jeans and boots - not the best of choice for trying on suits. When the assistant was measuring my legs for the alterations, he lent me his shoes! That has to be the nicest (if strangest) thing a shop assistant has done for me!

I also drew up the invite list. Originally there was going to be damn few family members invited. To be perfectly honest I don't really talk to any of them, and if you invite one you have to invite them all. After drawing up the list it seems I have a few spare places, so I guess I'll be inviting my mothers siblings. I'm not sure quite how I feel about that.

The photographer has not been finalised yet, but that’s about the last detail. Everything else seems to be either sorted, or planned out (I'm sure Misty will put me right on that one!) Misty's final dress fitting is this weekend, so a trip to Edinburgh is on the cards again. If the cost of the dress and the flights and the accommodation in Edinburgh are added up it's probably about a third of the total cost of the wedding... the plane tickets being another third. I am beginning to think that eloping would have been a good idea (just kidding mum!)

Oh - does anyone have a nice car that would like to drive Misty to the registry office? For your troubles you'll get a much sort after invite to the actual wedding (a select crowd of about 15!), plus an invite to the reception (if you are not already invited of course!)... go on!.. you know you want to!

It's Dad's birthday today. He's reached the grand old age of sixty, so we are celebrating with a bit of a party tonight. Mum and Jo have bought him a laptop(!) so maybe I'll introduce him to the world of LiveJournal. He's a bit of a technophobe so I doubt he'd ever update... but I've been surprised before! We got him some games to play. He's a sucker for those windows games... but I want him to branch out and play something that will actually test the computer as well as his grey matter!

I bought Misty a new mobile today. To get her added to mine would mean spending about another £30 a month, but to set up a new contract is just £25... plus she'll get 180 minutes of talk time, about 250 texts, and a nice new phone - just like mine!

The "nice" people at the carphone whorehouse suggested a £30+ tariff .. and failed to inform me of the deals Orange were doing online. Bastards!

Current Mood: blah blah
