I received this in my mail at work this morning, it brought a smile to my face, mostly due to the relief that it was a hoax. I thought I'd share ...

A MESSAGE FROM JOHN FARRELL

We want to make you aware of a false anthrax scare on Friday, October 12, at our 4 New York Plaza facility in Manhattan. An employee was involved in what he considered a practical joke, leaving an open envelope containing white and brown powder on a desk of another employee.

The envelope was spotted by other employees and caused considerable alarm. Our security personnel tracked down the source, and the employee admitted the hoax. He is now facing disciplinary action, including dismissal.

We are distributing this notice not only to ensure that you are informed of what actually happened, but also to make our policy absolutely clear. In this time of heightened anxiety, there is no excuse to cause needless alarm, distress or potential disruptions. Any such actions will be considered grounds for dismissal.

Now I thought *I* had a sick sense of humour! ... The guy will probably be sacked, and I can't really feel sorry for him.

On a more positive note, there are only 3 more working days before I fly to the states. I'm all organised, except I need new shoes! I'm really looking forward to this holiday. I had a great time last year, and hopefully I'll meet a few more nutters this year. And I'll get to see my girly. It's a win-win, and win again holiday.

I'm gonig to see Enigma tonight at the cinema. Let's hope it's as good as the trailer made out.

Current Mood: amused amused

Ugh, that *is* sick. I read something about another company in Israel who had a similar thing happen... A competitor sent an envelope containing white powder to the company, along with a note that said "regards from Afghanistan" as a joke. <shakes my head> Some people's children.

3 more days! YAY!!!! :DDD
