[LJ2ME] The word of the day
Sisu, I'm reliably informed, is a Finnish term for persevering in the face of adversity.

I'm amused at the little coincidences life throws my way.

Not only does it have a good meaning, it also sounds cute! I can see mothers chasing their children around, sternly admonishing..."Sisu. Sisu!!" Preserve. Keep moving! :o)

Thank you for teaching me a new word today!

Yeah, but I would better just describe it as "spunk", toughness, a positive kind of stubbornness :) and it's a very finnish thing, we have "sisu" so to speak :P

Basically we just say that "a finn would even go through grey stone" [when anyone else would be smart enough to go around it o_O] haha, no but seriously :) tough.

Ooo - thank you for the insight! From the definition I saw I thought it was more a philosophy of life than and description of the person.

I saw it on the train on the way in yesterday... they have these "Poems on the Underground." This is the one I saw (with definition of Sisu intact!)

How I love to be educated on my journey to work in the morning! :)
