And the teachers said I'd never amount to anything
Misty and I were shopping in Romford market last Sunday when Misty asked me how I would spell meter.

I thought this might be a trick question... after all - there are two ways of spelling meter... meter and metre (a throw back to our french roots I think)... so I said so.

Misty thought there may be a third way and pointed to a sign on a market stall near by...

£5 a meatr

I hoped I wouldn't get my head kicked in for taking this snap on my phone.

You see errors more and more these days, its very sad. Especially as it is usually written on the actual product for them to copy!

I went in a newish yarn shop yesterday and spotted some yarn at 2.25 per 50g, knowing the balls were sold as 25g, I asked if the price was correct for 2 balls? She said 'oh no, thats 2.25 for 50g', I said yes, as I said, TWO BALLS. I pointed out the mistake and she said oh, well its 2.25 per ball and remained seated. I stood outside her shop for at least 10 mins talking to my parents and she made NO effort to change the sign. I won't be going back :/

my lj is broke, I only get 'selective' replies sent to my mailbox, I didnt get any of these! I wonder what else I am missing lol. As for hammers, would need machine guns, it was an 'indoor market' and they all looked like they kept baseball bats behind the counter and they'd all come running if someone made a complaint lol

The foil paper market stall vendor probably owns a posh house in emerson park ...
paranoidandroid From: paranoidandroid Date: December 6th, 2005 02:29 pm (UTC) (Link)
That would be ironic.

You'd need to sell a metric shit load of foil paper at a pound a roll to pay for a house in Emerson Park! :)

6m of foil paper - £1
Being entertained by illiterate chavs - Priceless.
