...and now back to our original scheduled programs...
Last Thursday was St. Patrick's Day. It was also the day we decided to celebrate Mini Me's impending doom marriage as both Bradders and I will be unable to attend his official Stag Bash. It was a quiet affair, just the afore mentioned Mini Me, Bradders, and myself with Misty and The Fish joining us.

As it was Paddy's day we imbibed many pints of the black stuff and in return were given free hats depicting pints of the black stuff. Although I had my camera with me I fortunately forgot to take pictures. I did manage to make it home albeit the early hours of the next day.

Friday I was hung over. I passed on the offer of joining Misty and her work colleagues at a pub local to her workplace. I also passed on the offer of (a couple) free drinks at a waterhole local to my workplace and went straight home. I played Neverwinter Nights (NWN) for several hours getting my Elven Mage up to a staggering level 9. I am determined to finish one of these games as a mage... even if I do have to save the game almost every 15 seconds. I noticed on the main menu of the game you can DM a network game - adding monsters, traps, and story as you go along.

A friend and I had a similar idea about 100 years ago (okay about the time that Baldurs Gate first came out) that a game like that should be used to run a live game of D&D with a real live DM who can tweak the game as the players go along. It would cut out the dice rolls (computers are good at that sort of thing) and working out the time of day, weight restrictions, etc. which can tie up the best of DM's and allow them to concentrate on the story - something that some of the lesser DM's forget about.

Back to NWN... I managed to get a beefy warrior type to join me who is more than happy to wade in and attract the attacks of most of the enemies whilst I throw magic in from a safe distance. Lots of magic missile scrolls are required - so regular trips back to the store to sell bounty and stock back up are required. Plenty potions of the healing variety are also a must - can't let the warrior type get killed now can I?

After that marathon session of D&D Misty arrived home with Chinese take away. What a great night!

The rest of the weekend was based around chores. We sorted out what needed to be done and planned when it was going to get done. We still had time to watch a few DVD's and watch the Doctor Who night on Saturday. I have managed to put my back out - I have a burning ache almost constantly and moving about can bring a red hot poker of a pain to the small of my back. I blame the ironing.

This week will be an extra short one as I'm away on Thursday to the south coast for a 6 day break. I'm really looking forward to this.

Current Mood: busy I should be busy
Current Music: Yazoo - Mr Blue
